Emperor Goose!

We got off the plane, got our car, drove straight to Tualatin River, NWR in Oregon and promptly viewed an EMPEROR GOOSE!

Thanks! Our plan was to see the Brambling next and we did. The rest was just whatever we could find while we were there.

What's the deal?

I took my 10 year old son Liam to see "The Big Year". When the movie was over he said he wanted to do a big year and I said ok. The idea has grown out of control and we are about to take a journey that I hope will cement a father and son bond to last a lifetime. Counting birds is just the game; spending time together is the reward! Don't let this explanation fool you though...we are serious and are trying to break the record.

Update - A personal setback this summer derailed any chance of a really big number this year but we are back at and plan to finish as strong as possible!
