Some birds from our neck of the woods!

We live in the Midwest I guess?! I never quite understood what that meant...seems more Mideast to me. We live in the Cincinnati, OH area to be more specific. We have quite a few nice birds in winter and during Spring migration we have excellent warbler action. I had to make a business trip to Columbus, IN so made a stop at Muscatatuck NWR which is about 30min south of there. Got some great Winter feeder birds! Here are a few of them!

What's the deal?

I took my 10 year old son Liam to see "The Big Year". When the movie was over he said he wanted to do a big year and I said ok. The idea has grown out of control and we are about to take a journey that I hope will cement a father and son bond to last a lifetime. Counting birds is just the game; spending time together is the reward! Don't let this explanation fool you though...we are serious and are trying to break the record.

Update - A personal setback this summer derailed any chance of a really big number this year but we are back at and plan to finish as strong as possible!
